Koh Samet
Koh Samet is a lovely island close to Bangkok. It is the ideal retreat for people who just want to escape the hustle and bustle from metropolitan Bangkok. Depending the mode off transport Samet is only half a day trip away from Bangkok.
Pattaya
Pattaya is one of the most popular beach resorts in Thailand. Mainly because it is only 145 kilometers South East of Bangkok. Bangkok residents and tourists tent to go to Pattaya mainly for its bars and nightlife. North Pattaya is a little bit more up market and is the destination of package holiday makers. The Southern part of Pattaya where you can find the strip is the more sleazier part of town with strip clubs and transvestite entertainment. Just of the cost at Pattaya there are several small islands. The most popular ones are Koh Larn and Koh Phai. These island are a bit less developed then the beaches of Pattaya.
Koh Chang
Koh Chang which in Thai means Elephant island got its name from its shape. If you look at the shape of the island you see it’s resemblance with an elephant head with its trunk. The centre of the island is mainly mountainous jungle and a perfect place for people who like the fast quantity off diverse wildlife. Check out the waterfalls. On the coast there are beautiful white sandy beaches where you can find the beach huts where you literally just open your door and step on the beach. A nice way to travel around the island is renting a motorcycle. Just tour around the island and enjoy the beautiful views from the different view points along the road.
Koh Phi Phi
Forever immortalized by the movie the beach with Leonardo di Caprio, the Phi Phi islands have grown into a popular destination for travelers in South East Asia. The islands are situated right between Phuket and Krabi and are easily accessible by ferry from both sides. The Phi Phi islands consist out of Phi Phi Don which is the largest and inhabited island and the smaller brother Phi Phi Ley which has no inhabitants. On Phi Phi Ley you can find Maya beach, which is the place where the earlier mentioned movie based on the book by Alex Garland was shot. There are three more islands in the group, but they are just large limestone rocks in the sea that are used for scuba diving.
